About our team

Totton and Eling Town Council formed a Neighbourhood Plan committee to work on behalf of the town on this project. The committee is formed of town councillors, planning officers and residents. The committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month and is open to all residents of Totton and Eling.

Chairperson

Our current chairperson is Councillor Caroline Rackham who has been a part of the committee since its inception. Caroline has been a prominent town councillor for Totton and Eling for a number of years, and is also one of our district councillors. She is the driving force behind the annual Christmas Lantern Parade (Caroline runs all of the lantern making workshops), and she is heavily involved in a number of other community organisations and events.

As Chairperson she is responsible for running the monthly meetings and setting the agenda, liaising with planning officers and other contractors that the committee has commissioned, and delegating other tasks to suitable committee members as they arise.

Planning Officers

We are lucky to have several residents who work in planning on our team, and we are also beginning to work closely with the planning department at New Forest District Council.

Other Committee Members

(All residents of the town are welcome to join the committee.)

Committee members are sent each month’s agenda via email and kept up to date of major developments.

Our committee members comprise a lot of familiar community faces. A number of our town councillors including Amy Hardingson, Lin Francis and Ben Thompson are regular attendees as well stalwarts of the community like Ann Page (who runs the community centre) as well as specialist volunteers like Catherine Bartlett who is a local resident who works in planning.

Committee members are invited to

  • give their views at all Neighbourhood Plan Meetings,

  • to spread the word of the Neighbourhood Plan to other residents, and,

  • asked to volunteer for specific jobs that need doing as they arise (i.e. helping out at an event, collecting information etc).

Our monthly meetings are currently held in person in the centre of Totton (venues such as the community centre and the Men's Shed are normally used). They are usually on the first Monday of each month

PLEASE CONTACT US if you'd like to join our mailing list to receive the meeting details, and/or to receive meeting minutes (also archived on this website).
